Miniature Piezoelectric Ceramics in Minimally Invasive Surgery

Piezoelectric ceramics are a class of electronic ceramic materials with piezoelectric properties. Its working principle is to use the inverse piezoelectric effect to convert electrical energy into mechanical energy to achieve certain functions. The miniature piezoelectric ceramics sheet is one of the piezoelectric ceramics components that are miniaturized at the level of 1mm by using advanced microfabrication and manufacturing technology. It performs non-contact minimally invasive treatment in such small spaces inside the cardiovascular system.

Cardiovascular disease, also known as circulatory disease. It is a series of diseases involving the circulatory system, generally related to atherosclerosis. The circulatory system refers to the organs and tissues in the body that carry blood, including mainly the heart and blood vessels. The role of the heart is to drive blood flow and provide adequate blood flow to organs and tissues, while blood vessels are, as the name implies, the pipes that carry blood. The cardiovascular system plays a pivotal role in the normal functioning of the human body. Cardiovascular disease has become a major health killer in modern society and has affected millions of people worldwide. Minimally invasive catheterization options are used as a gentler form of surgical treatment that allows for rapid recovery. Therefore, it has become an important tool in the current treatment of these diseases, such as the non-contact fragmentation of intravascular plaques due to atherosclerosis using ultrasound catheters driven by miniature piezoelectric ceramics-based catheters. Because of the small space available for treatment, these devices are also required to be more compact. However, this also requires reliable and efficient operation, which places certain constraints on the size of the core component, the piezoelectric ceramics. miniature piezoelectric ceramics make this possible by producing efficient and gentle energy waves in a very small size.

Siansonic's advanced manufacturing process allows for the development and production of ultra-small miniature piezoelectric ceramics in the 1-3mm range, including round, square, ring, tube, or focused spherical crowns, all of which provide efficient performance in the smallest of mounting spaces. These miniature piezoelectric ceramic can be used in special applications such as medical interventional implants.
